Google has announced a collaboration with The Associated Press to integrate news into the Gemini app. This initiative aims to provide users with up-to-date information in real time. Jaffer Zaidi, Google’s Vice President of Global News Partnerships, noted that this feature will improve the usefulness of the results users receive in Gemini.
The Associated Press has long partnered with Google, providing accurate and timely news for the company’s products. Kristin Heitmann, AP’s Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, emphasized the importance of this partnership in ensuring impartial coverage as generative AI products are developed.
In addition, Google has updated the Gemini platform with new extension categories such as productivity, travel, media, and learning. This update will help Android users, where 13 Gemini extensions are currently available.
