Google continues to integrate generative AI into its search service. During the latest earnings report, Google CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized the importance of AI for the company’s future. He noted that 2025 will be a pivotal year for the development of search.

Google is actively implementing AI features from its DeepMind research lab into its search product. Pichai highlighted that search is gradually transforming into an AI assistant that independently analyzes web pages and provides answers. This is a significant departure from the traditional search concept that offers users ten blue links.

Among the company’s new projects is Project Astra, a multimodal AI system capable of processing real-time video and answering user questions. Google also plans to use this system to create augmented reality glasses. Another important project is Gemini Deep Research — an AI agent that automates the creation of long research reports.

Pichai also mentioned Project Mariner, which allows users to interact with website interfaces directly through Google Search. This could change the way users interact with the internet. Google is also considering integrating features that will let users ask follow-up questions in search, making it more like a chatbot.

Previously, Google faced challenges when implementing AI in search. The system provided inaccurate answers, which drew criticism. However, the company continues to work in this direction, aiming to improve its AI technologies.
