At the I/O 2025 conference, Google announced the rebranding of the Google One AI Premium subscription and the Gemini Advanced service to Google AI Pro. Simultaneously, Google introduced a new plan called Google AI Ultra, which is more expensive and offers a wider range of features for users.
Google reported that now complex search queries in the AI Overviews feature are handled by the most advanced version of AI — Gemini 3 Pro. Simpler questions are managed by faster, less resource-intensive models. This allows the company to more accurately respond to different types of queries and improve the quality of results.
Currently, processing complex queries through Gemini 3 Pro is available only to users with a paid subscription. This applies to those who have subscribed to the new Google AI Pro plan or chosen the more expensive Google AI Ultra tier.
Subscribers to these plans can receive more detailed and accurate answers to complex questions using the AI Overviews feature in Google search. The company plans to gradually expand access to new features for a broader audience.
