Google plans to add a new “AI Mode” to its search engine. According to a report by The Information, users will be able to switch to AI mode from the top of the results page. This will provide access to an interface similar to the Gemini chatbot.
The new mode will appear on the left side among the tabs “All,” “Images,” “Videos,” and “Shopping.” After receiving a response in AI mode, Google will display links to related web pages. There will also be a search bar below the answer, prompting users to “ask a follow-up question.”
This information matches a report from Android Authority, which previously spotted the AI mode in the beta version of the Google app. 9to5Google also found code indicating the possibility of asking questions by voice in AI Mode.
The Verge reached out to Google for comment but has not yet received a response. Meanwhile, the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai noted that Google Search will “undergo profound changes” in 2025.
These changes to Google’s search engine may be part of the company’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into its products. Recently, Google introduced the new generative AI Gemini 2.0 Flash, which promises to enhance user interaction with AI technologies. In addition, the company is actively working on innovative tools such as Whisk, which allow image generation without text prompts, demonstrating the growing role of visual content in the digital environment.
