Google announced the launch of a global expansion of the “AI Mode” feature in search. This feature is now available to users in 180 new countries in English. Previously, “AI Mode” was only available in the USA, UK, and India. Google plans to add support for other languages and regions in the future.
Users can ask complex questions and engage in dialogue directly in search, receiving deeper answers. In addition to expanding geography, the company introduced new capabilities for personalization and automation of actions. For example, Google AI Ultra subscribers in the USA can take advantage of the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” experiment in Labs to find and book tables in restaurants considering the date, time, location, number of guests, and type of cuisine. “AI Mode” searches for available spots on various platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, and Tock, and offers a list of options with direct booking links.
The new feature allows personalizing search results based on the user’s previous activity, such as search history, conversations, or clicks in Search and Maps. So far, this personalization works only for topics related to restaurant selection. Users can adjust or disable personalization in their Google account.
Additionally, there is now the ability to share “AI Mode” responses with others via the “Share” button. This allows, for example, joint planning of trips or events by sharing search results with friends or colleagues. The company notes that users can view or delete created links at any time.
