Google announced a major expansion of the AI Mode feature in search, which will now be available to all users in the US this week. The feature allows users to ask complex multi-component questions, receive detailed answers, and engage in dialogue with AI directly in the search interface. Users can refine their queries, get summaries from various sources, and even see data visualizations, which is particularly useful for analytics in sports or finance.
Among the new features is Deep Search, which automatically breaks down complex queries into subtopics, conducts dozens or hundreds of searches, and forms a comprehensive report with links to sources. This can significantly reduce research time. Additionally, a virtual clothing fitting feature is integrated: simply upload your photo to see how the chosen outfit will look on you — the AI considers body shape, fabric type, and other details.
Thanks to the agent capabilities of AI Mode, it can perform tasks on websites on behalf of the user — for example, searching and booking tickets for events, reserving tables at restaurants, or scheduling local services. The user only sets the task, and the AI analyzes prices and availability, automatically selecting the best options, leaving the final decision on purchase or booking to you.
Another new feature is Search Live, which allows users to ask questions based on what the smartphone camera sees in real-time. This expands the possibilities of interaction with search: users can immediately receive answers and recommendations about objects around them, combining video and audio in a dialogue with AI.
