Google announced the launch of new AI-based features for Gmail, which will now be available to all users for free. Among the main updates are “AI Inbox” and “AI Overviews,” which help find important information faster and manage large volumes of emails. “AI Inbox” uses AI to create personalized tasks and brief summaries of email topics, such as reminders for bill payments, email responses, or important events.
The “AI Overviews” feature analyzes long conversations and displays a brief summary of the main points at the top of the conversation. This allows users to quickly get acquainted with the essence of the correspondence without reading all the messages separately. The platform also allows users to ask questions about the email content, such as finding a contact or the date of an important event. Answers are generated based on the analysis of the entire mailbox.
Some capabilities of “AI Inbox” and “AI Overviews,” such as direct queries to the mail in natural language, remain available only to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. However, the main tools, including conversation summaries, are now open to all Gmail users at no additional cost.
Google emphasizes that the new features operate within privacy standards, and user data remains under their control. The updated tools are aimed at both individual users and businesses, helping to quickly find information and reduce the amount of work with emails.
