Google has started rolling out Gemini in Chrome for all Mac and Windows users in the USA. Previously, access to this feature was limited to Gemini Advanced subscribers, but now it has become available at no additional cost. Users with an English interface can now take advantage of the AI assistant, which helps work with information in open tabs and interact with various Google services such as Calendar, YouTube, and Maps.
Gemini allows you to ask questions about any page you are viewing, quickly find key moments in YouTube videos, organize information from multiple tabs, and even return to previously visited sites through simple queries. For example, a user can ask to find a site where they saw a certain product last week or recall a blog with a back-to-school shopping list.
Additionally, Google has added an “AI Mode” feature to the Chrome address bar. It allows you to ask complex questions and receive contextual suggestions directly during a search. For example, you can immediately compare different mattress models or clarify the lifespan of a particular type of product. In the future, Chrome will also be able to provide automatic questions about the page and offer brief reviews with the help of AI.
Gemini will gain the ability to perform repetitive actions, such as ordering products online, booking services, or organizing trips. The assistant independently navigates to the necessary sites, adds items to the cart, and the user only needs to confirm the purchase. Google has also integrated protection against fraudulent sites and a simple way to change compromised passwords on popular resources.
The features have already started appearing for all Chrome users in the USA, and Google plans to expand Gemini support to other countries and languages soon. The company promises further integration with mobile devices and other services for convenient AI use in everyday tasks.
