The Gemini app has introduced a new feature — chat search, which is already being rolled out to users. In the web version for computers, a magnifying glass icon has appeared in the top right corner of the sidebar, which you can click to go to the search section for conversation history. Here, there is a field for entering a query, and below it, a list of recent chats is displayed — up to sixteen, with pinned conversations appearing first and accompanied by a date.
The feature allows you to quickly find the conversations you need by chat name or keywords from messages. This is especially useful for those who actively use Gemini for work or study and have a large number of dialogues. The search works simply — results show the chat name and the relevant fragment where your query is mentioned.
In the mobile version of Gemini in a web browser, a full-screen search panel also appears after opening the sidebar. However, in the Android and iOS apps, this feature is not yet available, although the company is gradually expanding functionality for mobile devices.
In addition to search, the Gemini app recently updated the query panel appearance, simplified model selection, added features like “Copy Canvas,” and improved the organization of deep research. The new features are aimed at enhancing user convenience, allowing you to find the necessary information in previous chats faster and work more efficiently with AI in daily tasks.
