Gemini for Android has received a new feature to recognize music using the “Song Search” function from Google Search. Now users can ask Gemini to identify what song is playing nearby, and the app will open the music recognition interface in full-screen mode. Results appear in Google Search, and a prompt for further actions is displayed on the screen.
Previously, if you asked Gemini “what song is this,” the user would be advised to use a separate music recognition app. Now the process has become more convenient, and you can use a voice command directly in Gemini. This allows you to quickly find music playing nearby without switching between different apps.
The feature works through Google Search, and after recognition, the user sees the answer in the familiar Google interface. On iOS, this feature is not yet available, and the query “what song is this” does not open “Song Search.” The update is already available for Android users and has appeared in Gemini over the past few weeks.
The feature can be useful for those who often search for song titles in public places or at parties. It allows you to quickly get the necessary information through one app using only a voice command.
