Google announced the launch of the integration of the generative AI model Gemini in the Chrome browser for Windows and macOS users. Now, subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra in the USA, as well as users of experimental versions of Chrome — Beta, Dev, and Canary — can take advantage of the new assistant that helps work with information on web pages. The feature is available for individuals aged eighteen and older who use English in their browser settings.
The integration of Gemini allows you to quickly get brief summaries of page content, clarify complex points, and perform tasks directly while browsing sites. To interact with the AI, simply click on the Gemini icon in the upper right corner of Chrome, after which a window will open for input or voice input of queries through the Gemini Live feature. The model can, for example, convert a recipe to gluten-free, create a test based on page materials, or help choose a product considering personal criteria.
Gemini in Chrome can also compare information from multiple tabs, forming convenient tables, and soon there will be the ability to ask questions about several tabs simultaneously. The assistant can perform simple actions on the page — for example, independently scroll to the desired section of a recipe or convert measurement units of ingredients.
Thanks to contextual work in the browser, users can perform routine tasks faster and find the necessary information. Google notes that in the future, the integration of Gemini in Chrome will expand the capabilities of browser control via voice and help automate part of everyday actions on the internet.
