Elon Musk’s company xAI is preparing to launch a standalone app for users that will provide access to the Grok chatbot. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The app is expected to launch after the completion of another funding round, during which the company could raise up to $5 billion. According to the Financial Times, xAI is already valued at $50 billion—twice as much as six months ago. To attract investors, Musk is offering up to 25% of xAI shares to those who supported his acquisition of Twitter.
The Grok chatbot is currently available through the X platform (formerly Twitter), but only for subscribers. However, the new app will simplify access to the service, which could shift the balance of power among chatbots, where strong competitors like OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude already exist.
