ElevenLabs announced the launch of the Iconic Voice Marketplace, an online platform that provides access to licensed AI-generated voices of famous personalities. Companies can now officially use the voices of stars like Michael Caine, Liza Minnelli, as well as legendary figures like Mark Twain, Thomas Edison, and Alan Turing for advertising and other content. The service operates on a “with permission” basis and ensures fair payment and transparency, as ElevenLabs acts as an intermediary between brands and rights holders.
The platform launched with 28 voices, including both living celebrities and historical figures whose voices have been recreated based on archival recordings. To use a voice, companies must obtain consent from the rights holders, and ElevenLabs handles the agreements and ensures compliance with the terms. This approach allows artists and heirs to control the commercial use of their names, which was previously almost impossible due to the openness of voice cloning tools.
Particular attention is drawn to the involvement of Michael Caine and Matthew McConaughey, who not only allowed the use of their voices but also personally supported the project. McConaughey is already collaborating with ElevenLabs, using an AI voice to narrate his newsletter in Spanish. Caine emphasized that the platform will help a new generation tell their own stories and expand opportunities for creative people.
ElevenLabs notes that all voices on the platform undergo thorough verification, and access is granted only to verified rights holders. This prevents unauthorized use and ensures transparency in working with voice technologies. The new service has already sparked significant interest among media and advertising industry representatives, who have gained a unique tool for creating content with recognizable voices.
