ElevenLabs has introduced a new GenFM feature in the ElevenReader app, which transforms user-uploaded content into personalized AI-generated podcasts. This feature is available on iOS, with Android support expected soon. Users can upload various types of content — from PDFs and articles to eBooks and YouTube videos — to create podcasts hosted by two AI presenters.

GenFM supports 32 languages, including English, Ukrainian, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Portuguese. The platform emphasizes natural-sounding speech, adding pauses, filler words, laughter, and breathing. This allows it to mimic real conversations while maintaining clarity and usefulness. Users can choose from over a dozen AI voices for their podcasts.
The GenFM feature is versatile: it can summarize news across different industries, discuss literature or educational materials, and provide audio storytelling for activities such as commuting or exercising. ElevenLabs plans to expand GenFM’s capabilities by adding more customization options and allowing users to combine multiple sources for richer content.
The company positions GenFM as a competitor to tools like Google’s NotebookLM, which also generate dialogues based on user sources. ElevenLabs’ focus on accessibility and multilingual support targets global expansion. The app’s launch aligns with the company’s broader growth strategy, including recent $11 million investments in Poland’s startup ecosystem and expansion in India.
