South Korean startup Cinamon is actively developing its animation video generation platform called “CINEV.” The company recently raised $8.5 million in a Series B funding round. The beta launch of the platform is scheduled for the first half of 2025. CINEV promises to simplify the animation creation process, allowing users to build 3D environments, manage scenes, and edit camera angles using text prompts and sliders.
Cinamon CEO Doosan Hong emphasizes that the company’s approach differs from existing AI video generation solutions. Instead of creating videos by generating pixels, CINEV uses a library of 3D assets, AI motion generation, and a natural language processing model to build 3D scenes that can then be edited. This makes the platform particularly suitable for creating long-form content such as movies and dramas.
Cinamon’s investors, such as Krafton and Naver Z, plan to use their intellectual properties and 3D assets to expand the platform’s capabilities. In particular, CINEV can help develop IP beyond games, allowing content creators to use these assets to produce new content. Cinamon has also joined Nvidia’s startup accelerator, Inception, to further advance its technology.
The platform’s main audience includes comic, manga, and webtoon artists, web novel writers, game developers, video creators, and traditional animators seeking easier workflows. Cinamon plans to hire more AI engineers and invest in research and development to enable faster and more affordable animation content creation. To date, the startup’s team consists of 60 employees with experience in 3D graphics, AI, gaming, and content production.
