OpenAI has added new capabilities to Canvas — an assistant for writing texts and code that operates in ChatGPT. Now users can export their documents and code from Canvas, choosing among formats like PDF, DOCX, or Markdown for text, and save code in appropriate file extensions such as .py for Python, .js for JavaScript, or .sql for SQL.

Canvas is an integrated feature of ChatGPT that helps users edit texts or work with code in a convenient window. It opens automatically after certain requests, such as when you need to write or edit an essay, or upon direct user request. The model was introduced in beta last fall and has been available to all users since December.
The main advantage of Canvas is the ability to quickly make changes to texts and codes, as well as automatic error correction. Thanks to the new export feature, documents and programs created or edited in Canvas can be easily used outside of ChatGPT, simplifying workflows.
To download a file, simply click the download icon in the upper right corner of the Canvas window. The update is already available for users who utilize this feature in ChatGPT.
