OpenAI is preparing to launch a new “Agent Mode” for ChatGPT, which will combine browser automation capabilities, app integration, and information gathering. Users will be able to task ChatGPT with finding, analyzing, and summarizing data from Google Drive and other connected sources to create comprehensive reports in a few steps. The feature will allow working with different file types and managing tasks directly in the ChatGPT interface.
According to reports, OpenAI is developing agents that will enable the creation and editing of presentations and spreadsheets directly in the chat. The files will be compatible with PowerPoint and Excel, but users will not need to install Microsoft applications. ChatGPT will use open Microsoft file formats to reduce reliance on third-party office platforms.
It is planned that agents will be able to generate reports based on business data or open sources, as well as perform simple tasks, such as booking appointments on websites. Collaborative document editing is not yet available, but the company is working on this feature. Some agents may work slowly or make mistakes in the early stages of implementation.
OpenAI aims to make ChatGPT a central workspace for document management, data analysis, and office process automation. This approach will allow companies to centralize work tasks and reduce the use of traditional office solutions.
