Microsoft announced the launch of a new feature in its Bing app — Bing Video Creator, which allows creating videos from text prompts using the Sora model by OpenAI. This is the first time Sora’s capabilities are available for free to a wide range of users, as previously only paying OpenAI clients had access to video generation through this model.
To use Bing Video Creator, simply log into your Microsoft account in the Bing app. Each user can create up to ten videos for free, after which further use will require spending Microsoft Rewards — one hundred points are deducted per video, which are earned through Bing searches or purchases in the Microsoft Store.
Currently, video generation is only available in the Bing mobile app, and the process can take several hours even in fast mode. Users can queue up to three videos at a time, each five seconds long. The video length cannot be changed yet.
The finished clips are created in a vertical 9:16 format, which is convenient for posting on social networks such as TikTok or Instagram. The company reported that support for horizontal format will soon be available for even greater flexibility of use.
