Amazon Web Services presented four new AI models Nova and a new service of so-called “frontier” agents for software developers. Among the novelties are Nova 2 Lite for quick everyday tasks, Nova 2 Pro for complex tasks like code generation and long-term planning, and Nova 2 Sonic with extended support for multiple languages. The Nova models expand the capabilities of teams working on complex or multilingual projects.
Amazon Web Services also launched three new autonomous agents: “Kiro autonomous agent,” “AWS Security Agent,” and “AWS DevOps Agent.” All agents are already available in preview for developers, security specialists, and operations teams. They help automate routine tasks and reduce the need for manual control at all stages of software creation.
“Kiro autonomous agent” acts as a virtual developer, remembering context and learning while working on each project. It can independently distribute tasks, improve code coverage with tests, implement changes in multiple repositories, and integrate with popular tools.
“AWS Security Agent” automatically checks code, reviews project documentation, and conducts penetration testing with suggestions for eliminating vulnerabilities. “AWS DevOps Agent” focuses on automating incident response and root cause analysis, connecting to monitoring systems and CI/CD processes to support resilient application operations.
Early users, including Clariant, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, SmugMug, Western Governors University, and Presidio, are already using these solutions. Amazon Web Services emphasizes that the new agents allow teams to create, test, and deploy software faster thanks to autonomy and experience accumulation in working on each project.
