Apple is collaborating with Anthropic to create a platform for developers that uses generative AI to write, edit, and test code. Reportedly, the new version of Xcode will integrate the Claude Sonnet model, allowing developers to make requests via a chat interface, test user interfaces, and get help with debugging.
The company is currently rolling out the updated Xcode for internal use, and a final decision on a public release has not yet been made.
The Claude Sonnet model from Anthropic is already popular among developers on various programming platforms, such as Cursor and Windsurf. Previously, Apple announced a similar AI-based tool — “Swift Assist,” but it has not yet been released to the general public.
Apple is also partnering with other companies in the AI field — for example, Apple Intelligence features already work using ChatGPT from OpenAI, and Google Gemini may become an alternative option in the future.
