Anthropic is actively working on a new feature called Harmony, which will allow users to integrate a local file directory into Claude’s context. This will enable seamless interaction with files, allowing the AI to read, index, and analyze the contents of the directory. Harmony is already available for testing in the preview settings.

One of Harmony’s key capabilities is code analysis. During testing, Claude was able to quickly analyze the entire codebase and identify ten different security vulnerabilities in a sample project. In addition to passive analysis, Harmony allows you to modify existing files, save changes, and even create new files directly within the integrated directory. The feature also supports keyword search, providing a structured overview of relevant results.
Besides Harmony, Anthropic is developing another feature called Compass. Although details are still limited, Compass may allow Claude to conduct in-depth research from various sources, integrating web search, educational resources, and structured reports. Code updates hint at capabilities similar to autonomous AI agents.
These new features are expected to significantly expand Claude’s capabilities in coding, research, and overall productivity. The official launch date is still unknown, but their presence in the codebase and preview settings suggests a release may happen soon.
