Anthropic has introduced a new generative AI model — Claude 3.7 Sonnet, described as the industry’s first “hybrid reasoning model.” This model can provide both instant answers and more thoughtful, step-by-step responses, depending on user needs. Claude 3.7 Sonnet stands out for its improved performance in real-world tasks, such as complex coding challenges. The model also features a “visible notebook” that allows users to observe the reasoning process. This ensures transparency, although some parts may be hidden for safety reasons. Additionally, Anthropic claims the new model is 45% less likely to refuse to answer requests compared to its predecessor, Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
In addition to Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Anthropic is launching a new developer tool called Claude Code. This tool enables automation of software development processes, such as reading and editing code, running tests, and managing repositories on GitHub, directly from the terminal. Claude Code is currently available in a limited research mode, and the company plans to gradually expand its availability.
