According to recent reports, Amazon and Apple are encountering difficulties integrating generative AI into their voice assistants — Alexa and Siri, respectively. Amazon’s plans to launch a new version of Alexa powered by generative AI at an event in New York on February 26 had to be postponed. As reported by the Washington Post, the company now plans to move the presentation to March or later.
Meanwhile, according to Bloomberg , Apple has also encountered issues updating Siri. Engineering challenges and software bugs are delaying the release of new features, which were initially planned for April but may now be pushed to May or later.
Both companies aimed to quickly bring updated products to market to compete with the latest voice assistants, such as Advanced Voice Mode from OpenAI and Gemini Live from Google. However, as can be seen, these efforts are facing unforeseen obstacles.
Nevertheless, the integration of generative AI into Alexa and Siri is expected to provide users with new capabilities and improve device interaction, making them more convenient and efficient for everyday use.
