Adobe has unveiled new features for its popular applications such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro, leveraging generative AI. Adobe’s Chief Technology Officer for Digital Media, Eli Greenfield, announced that the company is working on a “creative agent” to be integrated into a new actions panel. This agent will be able to analyze photos and suggest changes based on context. For example, it might recommend removing people in the background or creating a depth effect by blurring the background behind the subject. Users will only need to click on a suggestion for the changes to be applied automatically.
For longtime Photoshop users, the new features will be a significant relief, as there will no longer be a need to manually mask objects or create layers to edit individual parts of an image. In addition, Adobe has already added AI-powered features that allow users to expand photos on a larger canvas or remove unwanted objects from the background.
In Premiere Pro, Adobe is expanding the capabilities of the new Media Intelligence feature, which analyzes video to identify objects and composition. This makes it easier to find the right shots faster. In the future, the agent will be able to assist with video editing, suggesting how to best select shots, adjust colors, mix audio, and more. Adobe has also launched the Generative Extend feature, which uses AI to add seconds to clips for smoother transitions.
The first presentation of the new technology will take place at the Max event in London on April 24, where the agent for Photoshop will be introduced. This will simplify the learning process for beginners and help experienced users accomplish complex tasks in just a few simple steps.
